VPCF23B9E - Bios update for noisy fan?
Hi There,
I have recently purchase a Vaio F series laptop and fan is excessively noisy even when the system is idle, is there any update or bios update available to fix this issue?
Its a great piece of kit, its just let down by the fan noise.
regards

Hi mbz124,
There is no BIOS update for this model but you may wish to experiment with the Power Option settings within Vaio Control Center > Power Management > Power Options. If you currently have Performance Mode selected try Balanced mode or Silent Mode.
Otherwise raise a case with Support.

Hi mbz124,
If you haven't the latest Nvidia driver, you may know that F series laptops are part of the NVidia Verde notebook program, so go to the Nvidia site and download the latest Nvidia driver for your GPU, it should be 306.97 WHQL.
I did the same thing for my VPC F13 Z1E/B, and it runs much smoother know. The fan noise is greatly improved.
If you upgrade, after the initial check for hardware compatibility, choose the option "perform a clean install".
Hope this helps,
Regards,
