Hi,
After 2 trouble free years I have encountered a problem with my laptop. The screen flickered then went black suddenly the only way I can use it now is to plug it into a TV ( So its maybe not my video card at fault? ) Has anyone any ideas what the problem might be?

I suspect your problem could possibly be either a faulty Inverter, backlight bulb or cabling problem..
