My 17-month-old VGN-FZ21Z refuses to boot any more to Vista. When starting Windows normally, it just stays at Vista loading screen (black screen with progress bar and text "(C) Microsoft Corporation") forever. The same thing happens if I select the option "Launch Startup Repair". Sometimes, after the loading screen the screen goes black and only cursor is showing. If I press F8 during boot-up, I get to VAIO recovery Environment prompt but when I press enter to start loading, it hangs the same way. Are there some special command line options that could be used here to debug or fix the problem? I also tried to boot using Vista DVD but the same thing happens again.
So is there anything else I could try myself?
did you happen to make back up discs? personally what I would do is completely format your C: drive and reinstall
Well I do have Vista installation disc and like I mentioned, I tried booting with it and it halted the same way. So I would believe formatting C drive would not help.
