Hi All,
I have installed the latest updates (18 August 2006) on my VAIO VGN-FS215M laptop, thinking that it may bring some improvements. however, instead of that it has upset my settings and keyboard, and now I am unable yo use the
I have tried to register my laptop on e-support and ask the question there, but my serial number is not recognized. There is no email where i could contact Sony to ask for help... this support is very weak, like trying to get rid of customer questions. And the phone support is charged at a decent rate...
If anybody can help how to resolve the problem please give some feedback (or if you know the support email address).

Or download and install the Preinstalled Utilities and install the folders in order, they may need to be installed more than once before working...:smileywink:

Thank you for the email address and for the link to the preisntalled utilities.
On the webpage for the preisnstalled utilities it was written that the same files should be present on the drive C:\Drivers and also on the Recovery CD, and if I have one of these there is no need to download. Terefore I have started the laptop with the recovery CD, but stopped the process at the warning because it would delete all files from the C drive. The situation is not that bad yet to take such a drastic action. (the only fault was that the function key
Then I thought before contacting the Sony support using the email address you provided, I will take a look if there is any other installed program that could solve the problem. Then found and run the program: Accessories > System Tools > System Restore and recovered the state of the laptop as it was 2 days earlier.
The Windows Defender (that can be downloaded for free from MS website) saves automatically the state of the laptop periodically, that makes it possible to restore an earlier state if something goes wrong. This solved the problem and now the
