vaio recovery problem

on my vaio vgn ar71s i booted up the recovery program so i could create some backup disks, but when it mentioned i would need dvds (which i dont have), i decided to back out of the program until i bought some dvd-rs, after clicking cancel to everything the program stopped responding, so after forcing it shut, somehow a seperate hard drive appears called recovery (h:\) and it has some sony crap in it that fills 11gb and then i notice this has gone from my c:\\ drive this drive hides itself when the recovery tool isnt open

😞

how do i get this space back???

im sure i had more than 454gb capacity, 😞

if this is a normal vaio thing then i can deal with it, but i would prefer that 11gb back so i can organise my own backups by myself some other way (e.g. the dvd thing)

For 11GB isn't worth the trouble of deleting the recovery partition considering the cost/GB.
Each GB cost you 0.25£ based on the price of the WD Passport 320GB ... 11GB => 2.75£.
So I think is better to leave the partition intact.

If you really want that 11GB back you can try to use a partition manager software to erase that partition and then expand your current one to the unallocated area.

Hi terrortowers,

I would agree with luisarn, if you remove the recovery partition and you have a CD/DVD drive problem or your recovery disc get lost or damaged, or your away from home and have forgotten the recovery disc's then you won't be able to use the recovery partition to restore your Vaio..
