Well I got back from school and booted the laptop. Was perfectly fine as usual. Went of to grab a croissant and once I got back, there was a black line on my screen!
I pushed on a normal area of the screen and the black line. Compared the two effects and noticed they were the same. So this MUST mean that there is a problem with my screen or the wires connecting to it rather than any hardware.
I've thought about opening it up but maybe asking on the Vaio community forum would be the best thing to do before I advance with my decision.
So what on earth is it?
I'm guessing the wires connecting the screen to the rest of the laptop must have failed to resist the amount of power/low resistance.
Now, it starts at 1041 and ends at 1068 giving it a total width of 27pixels. Its horrible!
I miss the 27pixels of my screen which has now been replaced by this horrendous thing.
Why is it there?
How did it get there?
How can I get rid of it?
Please help
Anyone with any suggestions?
Really irritating!
I NEED help with this issue.
Hi fahimtm,
Sound hardware related..
Do you get the same blue line when in safe mode.?
To enter safe mode restart your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo press the F8 key repeatedly..
Do you get the same problem in the BIOS
To enter the BIOS restart your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo press the F2 key repeatedly..
To exit the BIOS press F9 to reset the BIOS to default and press F10 to save and exit..
Yes. I won't bother with safe mode because I know it's a fault in the screen.
I've turned it off and inspected it. The line shows up even when its turned off / booting up and so forth.
I believe it must've been due to the electricity?
I'd plugged in my laptop and went out of the room for 2minutes. Once I got back there it was. Do you think it could be an accidental electricity problem. Maybe the voltage was a bit too high?
I hear it happens at certain times.
Thanks for your response. Is there anything Sony can do about it?
Anyone?
Can I send it to Sony to have it repaired?
Hi fahimtm,
you can either contact Sony Vaio support for a repair, use the following link to find the contact details: Sony Vaio Support
Or
See if a local repairer in your area can give you a quote to repair your Vaio's screen..
I don't want to allow anyone but Sony to open it because I want to keep the warranty on the item.
So I guess I shall contact SOny for help
Thanks
You're welcome good luck..
