Vaio A497XP - Problems with DVD-RW Drive....

Hi,

Can anyone please help?

Just using DVD Shrink to back up a couple of DVD's and I get an error when it is reading it. Works OK on other computers.

The 2 DVD's are a little scratched, and this appears to be the problem. It appears that the SOny drive is very temprimental, and simply will not read them using Shrink, Clone etc.

Anyone else had this, and got round it???

I would deactivate software you needed to activate so you don't have too much hassle when you need to reactivate it when it comes back reformatted

Programs like Office have activation, so you need to deactivate them so you don't have to call MS to have it fixed
