Sticky Threads/Announcements

I've only just joined yesterday and popped back in to see if anyone has been able to help with my queries. Disappointingly, despite 80 views, there's not been one response but that is not my concern.

Why is the first page full of sticky threads or announcements? There are over 20 (some of which go back to last year) and these clog up and stall, what should be a fluid and moving opening page.

I've been part of many forums and even moderated on some, and the facility to stick a thread was used sparingly as an important notice, that was then unpinned after a week or so. This kept things fresh and you didn't have to search for new posts starting at the foot or second page of the forum.

The phrase "wood for the trees" springs to mind and I wonder if perhaps a spring clean may not be in order?


PS: Not hoping to be personal, antagonise anyone or rock the boat, just an objective observation.

As there is no Search function the number of 'Stickies' may be a bit long but most of the threads are still common problems for users.

However, I'm sure they will be looked at when the Search facility returns.

In the meantime, all you need to do is click on 'Recent Threads' at the top of this page.
