Screen and fingers

Today a friend put is finger on my laptop screen in order to point something out.
I said don't do that. He ask me why and to be honest i couldn't answer why putting a finger on the screen could do, i'm not talking about doing a tremendous presure but just touching it. The only thing I remember was of course the fingertips marks on the screen that are hard to clean, but besides that i dodn't know how can it damage the screen since for example there screens that work by touch.


So can someone explain that to me? I just like to know how thing are and why.
