Re: 'Netgear ' Wireless networking between Vaio notebook Z1XSP to Vaio Desktop RX201 using XP Professional?

We've tried and tried but cannot get it to happen. Both notebook & desktop get wireless broadband connection to internet via the Netgear wireless router.

Fianly i can post again.

Right down to business.

I am guessing that both the computers have the same workgroup name?

Also have you enabled shareing on both the computers?

What type of cards are in your two computers (a,b,or g)?

Also what is the router (a,b,or g)?

They are the same workgroup.
Sharing is enabled on both computers, by that I mean that I am sharing my C drive.
The card in my desktop is a Netgear MA311 11Mbps 802.11b,
the inbuilt wireless network card in my laptop is a wireless LAN 802.11b/g.
The router is Netgear DG824M 802.11b wireless ADSL modem gateway.

You dont have any firewall software running on the machines do you? this can some time block network connections Norton internet security is known to do this, but can be configured to allow the connection.

Does your router have a hardware firewall? if so there is no need for a software one (if you are using one).

My last resort normaly is to uninstall all the network drivers using the system hardware manager and the reinstall them after a reboot (the computer normaly does the automaticaly). This will clear all the settings for the network and let you start afresh.

Did you get it to work since last week ?
Have you tried to share directories instead of a whole drive ?
The problem is perhaps access rights on directories ?
