Hello,
hope someone can help me with this one please because its causing me problems!.
Up to now, I have always used my laptop to connect to the internet etc via the ethernet cable. However, I now need to use my laptop away from the modem and therefore need to connect via the wireless facility I have via my BT 2091 wireless modem which works fine on my wife's laptop,(wirelessly).
I contacted BT and after much fiddling, they advised that I did not have a wireless adapter installed, and politely advised me go away and install. I went to my product recovery CD-ROM, provided with the laptop, and the found the wireless driver but it would not install, coming up with the error message 'Error installing and/or uninstalling the drivers for the PRO/Wireless adapters' then a long list of error addresses.
I then went to the 'Device Manager'> Network adapters and then 'Network Controller' which shows a yellow exclamation over the Network Controller. I opened up the Network Controller Properties box and clicked 'Reinstall Driver'. Put relevant Sony disc in as prompted and the message then comes up;
'Cannot install this hardware > Network controller > an error occurred during installation of the jardware > Access is denied'
Where do I go from here to sort out this problem please??
Any help gratefully received.
Gyron
Hello Rich912,
Sorry for delay, Grandparent duties again. Taken them back home now after another few days with us, great fun but leaves little time for other things!
In short, you and Blencogo appear to have solved my problem.
OK, re trying to delete the following items as advised,
BT Voyager USB Remote NDIS Device - Packet Scheduler Miniport
BT Voyager USB Remote NDIS Device - Symantec Network Security Miniport
I could not delete these items; message said something about ‘could be required for/during Boot process’. So, instead I disabled both items. I then tried to reinstall the original wireless drivers once more and this again failed as before.
I then tried Blencogo's suggestion of trying to install the latest Intel ProWireless 2100 drivers Intel(R)PRO/Wireless 2100 Drivers. This appears to have done the trick insofar as I now have wireless capability.
Out of interest the list of Network Adapters now has the following ‘Wireless entries’
Intel(R)PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter #3
Intel(R)PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter #3 – Packet Scheduler Miniport
Intel(R)PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter #3 – Symantec Network Security Miniport
No yellow exclamation marks anywhere to be seen.
So, my problem appears to have been resolved.
All I can say is a very big thank you to both yourself and Blencogo for your patience and diligence in trying to solve my problem. Another great success for you experts, the help afforded to us mere mortals is greatly appreciated and you probably are not thanked enough.
Thank you!!
Gyron
Hi Gyron,
I am so pleased that you have managed to find a resolution to the problem. I am still puzzled as to why the original drivers fail to load but that is history now.
Thanks for taking the trouble to report back and your thanks for assistance are very much appreciated. So many members just disappear off the radar and the team (of volunteers) have no idea whether we have helped or not.
Hello Rich912,
Yes, it is a puzzle why the original drivers wouldn't load.
My pleasure re reporting back, only correct in my opinion.
Kindest regards,
Gyron
Hi Gyron,
Did you lose sight of your Adobe & Java applications thread?

If you still need asistance then use the Secunia tool and let us know what you have in the way of duplicate and insecure programs. Uncheck 'Display only insecure programs' before running....
Hi Rich912,
Yes, I did lose sight of thread, or rather did not check because I thought no response. I will find thread today and respond as requested.
Thank you very much - again.

Gyron
