Has anyone yet updated his/her PCV-RX417 from the 2,4 to a 3,06Ghz CPU ? Is it just a matter of plug-out / plug-in or does it get complicated ? Thanks, Marco
You'll have to make sure that your motherboard can handle a 3.06GHz processor and that you have the relevant cooling in place.
Probably a new power supply too, 3Ghz CPIUs eat power!
Don't try!
The 3.06 CPU is equipped with hyperthreading, that needs a certain chipset, that needs to be again on the motherboard.
You would need to change both motherboard AND CPU to achieve the 3.06 step-up.
Sure, Hyperthreading is worth the money, just that you are looking of an investment of around 550 Euro for both parts...
Plus, only the fewest softwares support the 3.06GHz HT-CPU...
Stick with the CPU you have, and save the money for the 4GHz step-up I would recommend!
Absoutely, 3.06Ghz is just not needed at the moment - save up for something else.
