PCG-FX403 CD reading problems

my vaio can read all DVD's but if i put a normal CD or CD-R into the QSI DVD-ROM SDR-081 it could not read it....can anybody help me??? i reinstalled the driver but it doesn't work!

Did you update Nero by any chance?

i never installed nero, because it is not a cd burner it can just read cd's & dvd's, even a firmware update couldn't solve my problem i'm also trying to get an information by a sony technican but the vaio-link.com site doesn't answer to my case

i want to reinstall winXP, but this won't work without a working CD-ROM! H E L P M E , please!!!!
