Notebook problem

Hi,

I have an AR11B Notebook, but I'm having a problem with the battery. Even though it shows in Vista its fully charged and up until now its worked to a certain point, the battery has now started to stop working fully.

It'll charge up no problems, but even when its fully charged either in Windows or at the bios, once I take the power socket out, the pc turns off as if theres no power what so ever.

I did do a search on this problem and the only related parts I've found are about a battery recall that happened, which I had no idea of until now. The battery is one of them that was recalled, but no one informed me.

I had noticed the laptop only worked for around 5 - 10 minutes on battery power, even when it was bought brand new. But I thought that was only down to the laptop being a powerful laptop.

Any help would be grateful.

Does your model use the VGP-BPS2B battery?

Only some serial numbers were affected and there used to be an online page to check if yours is on the list. Anyone remember where?

You may be a bit late but it is worth a call to Sony Support.

I found the the Sony Europe link, in the news section, but unfortunately it doesn't work anymore.. http://club.vaio.sony.eu/clubvaio/gb/en/news/?page=2

yes thats the battery. I've also tried to look for the page to check the serial, but I cant find anything. The last time I called Sony VAIO Support I had a right arguement with the guy as I couldn't understand the guy and he was wanting to charge me for a diagnostic on my laptop to find out what was wrong with it when I'd already told him it had a broken hinge lol.
