Hi,
I'm afraid there is no forum for german users and I hope you'll understand my problem, because my English is not good enough to explain it. OK, I try.
I recently purchased a used Vaio Notebook (either PCG 9S2M or PCG K315S, both is written on it).
My problem is that the monitor of the notebook switches off automatically (happens about once an hour). The screen then is completely black but the workstation doesn't seem to switch off (the fan still works).
To reactivate the monitor sometimes it's enough to press the space key, sometimes I have to reboot the notebook.
Sreensaver is not activated and in the energy options I've selected the option "Always on".
Who can help me?
Hi stefan1000 and welcome to Club Vaio.
You English is excellent!
It would seem that ‘standby’ is causing a problem for one reason or another. Try disabling this function – Control Panel > Power Options > Power Schemes – Set system standby to ‘never’.
This is obviously only a workaround but may possibly help in the short term.
Hi Rich912,
Thank you for your reply. That's what I tried to explain. Every power scheme is set to "Never", so the harddisc and the monitor should always be on.
I forgot to mention that I - to exclude a virus or something similar - have already erased my system disc (format C) and reinstalled the operating system (XP) and of course all drivers, too.
More details: I use the Mozilla Firebox Browser and Avira Antivir Personal Edition.
Hi Stefan,
You should have a power icon in the system tray (it looks like a battery and meter) – Vaio models differ on this control but try right clicking this and select ‘Edit/Create Profiles.
Try turning off the standby and hibernate timer for your current profile (double click the current status and select “off”)
