Hello fellow vaio owners,
I was having slow start up issues with my vaio so i played around with it a bit, no success. I tried to make recovery disks using the recovery tool but that did not work either and the system hung up with no signs of recovery.
After getting immensely frustrated I got hold of a vista DVD and reinstalled windows vista on it (in the meanwhile i ran a hardware test, found one of the 2GB ram modules was faulty so i replaced it and then reinstalled vista from a seperate DVD)
Now my notebook is working and everything but I cant install the vaio utilities software on it. The vaio update, system restore etc arent installing. further more the multimedia buttons for volume, S1, fwd, rew, etc are not functioning.
It is also telling me that there is a hardware that needs a driver but i cant figure out what it is.
Can someone tell me how to get my vaio back to how it was i.e. install vista from the OEM drive (the oem drive is nowhere to be seen - not even in the disk management bit) but the capacity of the HDD tells me that about 10GB is hiding somewhere.
i tried F10 - doesnt work.
The BIOS screen shows 200GB HDD while within windows its showing 190GB.
Can someone please tell me how to get my vaio running on the original items that it came with pelase?
Well if you've installed your own version of Vista that will delete the partition on the computer. The HDD might just be showing up as the correct size of the HDD as opposed to the windows size. You would have to purchase RDVDs of Vaio Link. Usually only takes 2-3 days for delivery and cost is about £35
Hello nineoutof10,
Thank you for your respose. Please tell me where can i get these DVDs? I would highly appreciate it.
regards,
Hi stingsaintly,
welcome to Club VAIO..
You're Vaio has a hidden HDD recovery partition so as long as it has not been deleted you should be able to recover your Vaio back to the original installed OS and programs just as it was when you first used your Vaio.
To do this Start your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo screen press F10 repeatedly this normally would start the recovery process..
If the above doesn't work You can order a replacement recover disc set from Sony Vaio Support, use the following link to find the contact details: Sony Vaio Support
