help please

Well after rebooting the whole system with my sony/xp recovery disc - having saved important mp3's, files, ect to dvd - and nothing worked still! (I'm sure you guys such as Keelo and TellingD will know what I am talking about!)

But - I downloaded a STINGER? From Macafee two nights ago and it founds lots of viruses and duplicates of them elsewhere on the drives, so far, having cleaned and repaired them(one or two still exist) it seems the only problems i have now is spyware and adware crap that i will get rid of! (Any tips?)

However, everything has improved, mp3/video playback, gameplay... but when I log into my hotmail account, nothing loads but the page is blank and says "done".

It works on any other computer and all other sites I use are working fine?

Have deleted temp net files and cookies ect, but still nothing!

Did you do a full recovery (format, repartition, reinstall of all software)?
This is better than hunting viruses down and getting rid of adware.

If you did a full restore then nothing should be on the HDD except what comes off the recovery disk. Are you sure you haven't got something 'nasty' in your backed up data?

Anyway, yeah make sure you do the full recovery and do a virus check through your backup, and eradicate it asap.

I'm thinking that maybe the viruses are lurking in amongst the files i backed up... a lot of them are downloaded via p2p programmes!

The reason I don't really post is most of the people are young on there, VERY young. Besides, my days of spending every minute (and every penny) on my pride and joy are over. These days I need reliablity and practicality, and SatNav of course I still enjoy reading the posts though, brings back happy memories of me and my 'Tree-Leeta'
