hi
right herss the whole story,,, not so long ago my computer got infected y this trojan which infected my firstreboot.exe i quarantined the file then delted it
now i just deleted the whole partition and installed windows xp pro and when i went to install my sound card my norton alerted me and said that it found a virus c:\windows\ system 32\firsaa43.rra trojan horse !!!!!!!!!!!!! and the sound card set up alerted me and said that it couldnt find firstsystem reboot.exe so it was unable to install
why didnt the deletion of the partition (there was only 1) kill the virus or trojan also why didnt it reinstall the firstreboot.exe
please someone help as i havent experienced a extreme error such as this before
kind regards ben
why dont i install it with out norton
1: the first installation was perfect and norton was installed then
2: what if it is a virus on the disk and my norton only reads it when it is trying to be installed and not when it is compressed to disk
(yes i have scanned the disk and found nothing)
last time my xp home had loads of programmes and services xp pro wouldnt be missing any of these would it ??????
its xp pro service pack 1
i sent an e mail to the hercules peeps and still nothing and there faq is totally wak to say the least
people thought finding support on the sony site is hard go onto the hercules site and search there faq for fortissimo 3 7.1 #
it basicly has nothing at all to help with installation let alone anything about firstreboot.exe
i will just have to wait and hope that they have a answer
Thats quite odd and puzzling now.
yeah tell me about it
when a file enters your system it is put there by something isnt it
the computer peeps that make the stuff they arnt stupid enough to have a file that is only on the card are they ????????
like a file that is stored in the card and if it ever got deleted then bang the cards out,,,
like i have said before i have actually deleted this firstreboot.exe as it got infected by a trojan acording to my antivirus but that was when windows xp home was installed.......also after deleting it the card was still working and still started up at start up
and deleting the whole partition should have removed any virus even if it had infected acouple more files or changed them in some way
installing a new os should have sorted it all out
Thats whats so odd Ben, how can this thing come back from nowhere?
you'd have to have some kind of BIOS virus and they're pretty rare. (If they even exist).
bio virus !!!!!
never heard of them
if i had one would my anti virus even find it ???????
its sort of funny though because its so confusing i just find myself laughing at the strangness of it lol
it installed fine the first time
now i get different virus alerts everytime i try and install it
it also thinks that the file is missing from my computer when the cd is meant to be installing it lol
the viruses meantioned seem to have virus definitions but i am unable to find them on the symantec site or on google
for the mean time i am going to resort back to the onboard sound and just wait for there reaction to this lol
regards ben
I know it's not recomended but a low level format?
youve lost me
what are you talking about a low level format ????
regards ben
Well, a hard disk can be formatted on a low level. Well, that was what it used to do, now they just wipe information off completly.
Anyway Seagate do have a document all about it. ONLY DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK - I cann't be help responsable for the problems which may occur. THIS IS ONLY A SUGGESTION and should be thought about before going in head first.
thanks for all the info but im going to give that a miss as the second link says new drives dont need to be low formatted and are sometmes to comlpex to do so after it has been at the factory
my drives are all 7200rpm 8mb buffer can transfer at 100mbs
so im not going to risk it it isnt worth messing with my system drive
hopefully i will get a reply from the hercules dudes today....
also i have noticed that installing window xp pro has made my intel pro adapter need to be installed i am unable to find the sotware even though i dont use it i would rather it be installed and then disabled
where can i get this software.......
i am now aunable to update my bios or use the vaio disk as it seems it needs some sort of fash software to do so where can i get this ?????????
can someone tell me if xp pro and xp home would have he same system 32
because i can xplore the recovery disk (sony) i thought it might be a good idea to copy / paste it into my windows xp pro
it would only put he files that wernt there in there any way wouldnt it because t would warn me if the same file was going in
i havent tried it yet as my not sure if it is a good idea or not
