hi
right herss the whole story,,, not so long ago my computer got infected y this trojan which infected my firstreboot.exe i quarantined the file then delted it
now i just deleted the whole partition and installed windows xp pro and when i went to install my sound card my norton alerted me and said that it found a virus c:\windows\ system 32\firsaa43.rra trojan horse !!!!!!!!!!!!! and the sound card set up alerted me and said that it couldnt find firstsystem reboot.exe so it was unable to install
why didnt the deletion of the partition (there was only 1) kill the virus or trojan also why didnt it reinstall the firstreboot.exe
please someone help as i havent experienced a extreme error such as this before
kind regards ben
Hi Ben
I would download the latest drivers for the soundcard, scan them for viruses and hope they install.
i thought it might be the disk hat cam with the sound card as well so i scanned that an found nothing when i scan my pc now i find nothing
when i retry and install the drivers yet again it finds this virus and says it is in the same place access denied ect
the drivers of the sound card says my computer is missing the firstreboot.exe
and i did delete that file after it had be quarantined !!!!!!!
but installing a new os should have sorted that shouldnt it ?????
Thats wierd
What if you turn off Norton during install?
i will try it but that seems a little strange doing that
also i have searched for the trojan by the name it has provided and found nothing ??????????
and where am i meant to get the firstreboot.exe from if it doesnt come from a os ?????????
regards ben
can a virus be somewhere else other than in your drives ???????
does it move around your system could it have the intelligence to move at the right time to miss the scan ?????
firstreboot.exe is provided by Herculies apparently.
yo kee-lo where did you find that info ?????????
thanks regards ben
right something else has happened its strange lol
windows update had a driver update for the crystal sound which is for my sound card so i updated it and then tried to install the drivers this time i got a different msg from norton saying virus on your computer ect c:\windows\system32\firs23c6.rra
the same msg but with different numbers at the end ???????
does my norton think that the cd is installing a virus when it isnt ????
is that even possible.???
also the sound card installed when i had the windows xp home
and my firstreboot somehow managed to get infected...
