Hi all !
I woud like to replace the HDD in my VGN-S3HP.
When I read the specifications on Vaio's site at
http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/tutorials/memory/memory.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons
it is not clear to me what SATA the VGN-S3HP at maximum can hold.
Is that only SATA ? Or (also) SATA-2 ?
I am interested in the fastest HDD (read-throughput at top) that is allowed in the VGN-S3HP (so any tips are welcome).
Thanks in advance for your reply !
The beauty of the SATA specification is that any new version must be backward compatible so you can run a 3 GBit/s SATA drive over your 1.5 GBit/s SATA interface. Your Vaio can hold any drive that physically fits.
You should still get any increased speed from the newer drive because conventional hard drives (even the one you are looking at)cannot push out much more than 150 MBit/s. At the moment the SATA 300 MBit/s connection is only really useful for SSD drives.
