Does anyone here have the vaio FE11S that is completely satisfied with it? All i am hearing lately is complaints and it would be nice to hear a few positives about this new one... especially as i have one and every negative thread i read makes me doubt if it was a good decision to buy it... I personally havent had any problems with it yet except it is running slightly slow..but from the other threads i think that can be fixed by getting another antivirus and firewall and losing some of the pre-installed stuff from sony...
Hello,
I'm extremely satisfied with my FE11S!
I reinstalled a clean XPpro and upgraded ram to 2 giga. I work with graphics, 3D and movies, and I can say this notebook is fast, really fast and lightning reactive.
I'm thinking about a HD change, with a 7200 rpm unit: the 4200 original one is huge but slow...
And the Display is excellent!!!
I agree the display is excellent.... Do you still run Norton or are you running different anti-virus and firewalls to increase the speed?
Hello my friend,
would you like to describe all steps you have done
to kill the preinstalled windows and
reinstall your new version?
I am not happy with the configuration of FE11S
and I do want to get rid the old installation
ant put here the real XP professional.
What about the driver installation and all of the thinks.
What do I need?
I have spoken to sony hotline and I was told there is
no workaroung about new installation.
The guarantee whould ends if I change the installation.
Drivers would be delivered as bundle with
licensed Sony-Windows.
Is it true?
Thanks
Roman
there will be no support for another installed windows xp version, but that doesn't mean you don't have any guarantee anymore! guarantee is for the hardware itself, support for the software (if it is media center in this case)
I have reinstalled xp pro sp2
Then I have installed the Chipset (delivered in c:\drivers)
You have to update the drivers in the hardware configuration and to let the audio work, there is a hotfix delivered with your vaio but you have to find it 🙂
You can create Support files with the recovery tool ! There is an option (a button) that will make some folders on your hard disk and there you'll find some hotfixes. The first hotfix available is that one for the audio and modem drivers.
Search in this forum for some nice tips, I'm not gonna rewrite every detail 🙂
But it is possible, don't worry!
Thank you sweetCoffee
I will try
