I have a problem with my Sony Vaio VGN-FE41Z notebook. The wireless slider switch on the front of the laptop no longer works properly, it can take 5 minutes of sliding it back and forth before the on position actually turns on the wireless. Also the wireless will often cut out if the laptop is move slightly (the light in the switch goes out and the connection is lost). I guess there must be a wiring issue. So I would like to know if anyone else has had the same problem and if anyone knows how to fix it or to simply bypass the switch as really I need the wireless on all the time.
Thanks in Advance,
Adam
Hi Adam and welcome to Club Vaio.
I don't think there is a way of by-passing the physical WLAN switch. You will need to get someone to look inside and repair the switch/wiring.
The only alternative I can think of is a cheap Wireless Cardbus which will fit in the PCMCIA and give you an alternative wireless connection - you can get one for less than £10: -
