FAULTY FINGERPRINT READER

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE FINGERPRINT READER ON VGN-AW11Z?

WHEN CLICKING ON ICON IN BOTTOM RIGHT HAND TRAY RECEIVE MESSAGE:

Cannot enroll user.
An internal error occured (pt: tfmerr -1118).

ERROR IS INTERMITTENT AND READER WILL SOMETIMES WORK.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Hi sonnyaw and welcome.

Intermittent faults are not good as they often point at hardware as the cause.

However, I would try reinstalling the fingerprint driver and seeing if there is an updated version on the web. I think you have Version 1.9.2.111 installed and there will almost certainly be a newer version on the UPEK site: -

http://www.upek.com/support/downloads/drivers/windows.asp

If that doesn't fix it you will need to contact Sony Support as a repair may be needed.
