DVD Player

Hi

I have a PCG-GRT915M, the dvd-player is not playing any kind of normal Movie DVD. But he is still able to read cds, and DVD-+RW.
When I put a movie dvd, it just keeps trying to read it and then nothing happens. It doesn't even ask me to choose a DVD-Region. It doesn't recognize anything.

I completed a full recovery, uninstall/reinstall device, but the same problem remains.

Does anyone have a clue?

First off, check if the region set for your drive matches the one of the discs you are attempting to play. To check the region, find the DVD region tab in the drive's properties in the device manager.

If that is fine and you are sure that you can read data DVD's check the discs. Dust? Scratches? Copy protection? Does it occur with a couple of discs?

If all the above checks (previous posts) then perhaps your DVD laser has died. I don't know for sure but I believe combo drives have two lasers - One for CD's and a second for DVD's
