CPU UPGRADE GRV516G

Hallo everybody !
Please help me (if this question is not so stupid)
I have this notebook since 2003 and I'm satisfied how it works. Now, that P4 become cheapest I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade the cpu of the grv516g (P4 2,4 ) and, if yes, which is the maximun.

Thanks a lot

It's possible, but I wouldn't do it unless you have some experience. The max isn't probably > 2.8Ghz

Thank you so much.
Probably I'll try the 2,8 ! Just to see if it is better than now.
Could it be depends on the old bios ?
Mah !

Don't forgett your RAM!

256MB is not much.
And I think a 2,4GHz CPU is fast enough (but it's your Notebook).

I agree Seb
But that extra power is good for ripping music for your player.

Overall speed of the notebook will probably only increase by about 5% and may introduce cooling problems. Increasing memory will give a better more reliable benefit.

That's what I mean Rob.

Here is a test for all users with more as 512MB RAM

1. click implement(ausführen)
2. write msconfig
3. click ENTER
4. click BOOT.INI
5. click extended options(erweiterte Optionen)
6. click MAXMEM and put down the number to 256
7. click OK and ENTER
8. reboot the system and you have only 256MB RAM

And you can see how much is 256MB. (It's not realy much)

If you want more RAM deaktivate MAXMEM and reboot the system.

64MB, my system use after the boot normaly ~250MB.

I think a upgrate to 32MB must be increasing the systemspeed extrem. :smileythinking: :pig:
