I have a Vaio with a dead hard disk (160MB Seagate). I have fitted a replacement disk (Hitachi 500GB) and attempted to do a full system restore from the recovery DVDs that I made when the notebook was new.
When I run the recovery utility I get a progress bar which says "formatting" and then an error message is displayed. When I cancel the error dialog box a further 2 error boxes are displayed, and then a failed -1 message.
The new hard disk is working correctly.
Does anyone have any ideas why the system restore fails?
