BT Internet connection with Vista Home Premium

Hi

Just bought a Sony Laptop with Vista Home Premium - 'like the laptop, still deciding about the OS!

I have a BT broadband account and Home Hub. With XP, BT Desktop Help allowed easy set up and a password / connection box

With Vista, I'm struggling to create a dedicated connection - I have to faff around disconnecting then reconnecting the wifi link, then selecting internet explorer with the BT internet home address - which can't be right!

I'd be grateful if anyone could advise how to do a proper BT Broadband setup - or when BT Desktop help might support Vista?

Thanks

Mike

Hi all,

Yeah my FE-41Z with Vista Premium was doing the same thing, not connecting to my BT homehub after waking up from sleep. The Microsoft HotFix worked a treat. Thanks for the info.

A Vaio Newbie!

I've got a BT Home Hub and have been having the odd problem where my Vaio keeps losing connection every few hours or so. I'm not entirely convinced it's not a BT problem but you never know

Hi
i also have problem with BT Home hub. my laptop cant detect it. After spending about 4 hours talking to BT i am now about to receive my third hub. trouble is that while BT were remotely connected they have changed something and now i cannot see any hubs or wireles connections. I have a BT Voyager working on another BB on my home as well as previously i could see other hubs aroundthe neighbourhood. BT Total broadband CD will not run either
anyone know what has been changed and how i get back to seeing wireless connections? :slight_frown:

Using Internet Explorer 5+ or Firefox type bthomehub.home or your IP address in the address bar.
This will bring up your connections and using the advanced link on the left hand side menu.

The above is to used only if you have the BT Total Broadband package with BT Home Hub.

In Vista if your home hub is already set up plugged in etc then yes start > connect to

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

Hope someone here can help me, I've just bought an FW11E online and within 1 hour of setting it up and creating recovery discs I discover I can't connect to my existing wireless network 😞

I have an existing network with a password and have 2 laptops including a VGN-FS515 which connect to it with my pass with no problems, one runs Vista and the other XP, plus my phone connects with no issues.

My new Vaio will not connect at all and says it's a "timeout" issue, I've ttried everything including checking all the frequency settings on the wireless adaptor which is working fine and on the router which is also fine, this leads me to believe it's an issue with the laptop or Vista Home Premium which it runs, the router is a normal 3Com and my ISP is BT.

I will raise this with Vaio support during the week but was hoping someone might be able to help before that as basically I'm left with a 1 day old £750 laptop that will not connect to perfectly good wireless networks.

Many thanks for any help in advance!
