White bars on screen
Hi. My old KDL46hx has developed 2 broad white/grey bars on the screen. It is mainly used in kids room for Apple TV/ Netflix etc and of course they don’t know what happened!
Any ideas on how to fix
thanks

Alas, this sort of damage is usually irreparable, or uneconomic to repair, which comes to the same thing.
What did they hit the screen with?

Hi, thanks… of course no one knows what happened. !! It was just “Daaaad, the tellys gone funny” so I don’t know.
is it terminal ? is it a power or video board replacement. Or is it a new telly from eBay ?
cheers

Hello @Chezzy-Blade,
to me that looks like permanent damage to the panel itself. @royabrown2 kindly correct me if I'm wrong though.
In your case it is a new telly from ebay as far as I can tell. The panel is the most expensive part of a TV, so as soon as it goes bad, it is totaled.

Hmmmmm. Bad news !
they’re still denying anything.

Hell, you’re the Expert here! 😛 But yes, panel damage.
Here’s a Samsung, different make but with the same sort of panel technology, that Curry’s broke earlier - it arrived like this ‘new’, in a damaged box in a pristine plastic bag, so probably damaged in the warehouse. Apologies for the usual infuriating picture rotation from my iPad.
Even from brand new, Currys will have had no choice but the scrap this on return.
You can just about see the damage with the TV switched off in the second picture; I wonder if there is anything to see on @Chezzy-Blade @‘s one when switched off?

Hey guys, I have to disagree with you, I don't see a point of impact like the pic royabrown2 shared, so I would say show it to a Sony engineer before giving up, if they say it's irreparable, I wouldn't buy my kids another one, even used 😈
