Is there any way to reduce the time it takes until you can enter the video services such as YouTube or Netflix?
I clocked the Chromecast to boot up and be ready to be casted to at 38 seconds. After 1 minute and 26 seconds, the Bravia had started up, connected to the wifi and done whatever it does to enable the video services. Then you have to wait for Netflix to start up, fail to connect and finally connect after a second attempt.
I understand that it has an initialization cost but what's taking the video services so frigging long to be enabled? Does it have to connect to some Sony server every time you start the TV?
The TV uses the latest firmware.
HI there,
So I can look into this for you, can you give me the full model number of your TV?
Best wishes,
Sean Mc
Model: KDL-48R553C
Software: 8.587-1000-1.200-01
It starts up faster now which leads me to believe that it has to do some network operation before Netflix/YouTube can be entered. In the case of a flaky network, be it wifi or server related, the video services would be delayed. Does that make sense?
Hi there,
We'll check this and update you when we have more information.
Best wishes,

Hi denravonska,
There is a newer software that has been released and it improves the performance specially with Netflix. You can download the update from this link: https://bit.ly/2R2u6Tj.
After the update you can try to reset the TV to factory settings then check the performance after.
Hope this helps,

Perfect, thanks. I think it enabled the video services quicker after the update but I'll let her spin for a week or so and see how she behaves.
Maybe this will even solve the issue with Netflix playback buffering flickering between 25%-99%?
Hi denravonska,
I'm not sure if this will definitely help with the buffering issue but I guess it should. You can try and let us know

Unfortunately, it did not fix the buffering issue. It does feel like the video services are enabled much faster now though.
Hi denravonska,
Have you tried to reset the TV to factory settings? I guess the reset can be useful in such case if you didn't try it.
