I often have my CX523 TV switched on while working in an adjacent room, so that I can just hear the sound while I'm working. To save electricity I like to have the backlight off when I'm out of the room. The presence sensor eventually switches the backlight off, but the whole thing also goes into standby about 30 minutes later - so that's no good really.
What I really want is for the TV to stay on indefinately, and be able to manually switch the backlight off and on whenever I choose - the "Picture Off" option seems to do just that.
But to switch the backlight off I have to:
Going through all of this just to switch the screen off is a pain. It would help if it was available from the "Options" key (along with the display and screen settings).
Has anyone discovered a short-cut to the "Picture Off" feature ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
That's where I was suggesting it should be. But there is no Power Saving in options - not on my CX523 anyway (firmware version PKG3.505EUA-0104)
Options only has:
Any other suggestions?
This is CX52 series , that mean cannot use option> power saveing> picture off
ericpode,
This shortcut not included in the current firmware yet.
I would suggest you to copy this post and past it to the sticky in this forum with the title Future BRAVIA features - requests & suggestions. by Catmambo

Thanks
Thanks for the explanation. I've added a post to the requests thread.
Incidentally who marked Bravia55HX923's post as an Answer to this thread? My original post specifically stated that it was for a CX523 television, so it is NOT an answer for this model.
Hi,
i never said it was an answer i said "TRY IT", it works on a KDL40BX400 and i believe that an older model than yours, it was, after all a suggestion.

I echo your question ericpode.
Who is choosing these "Correct Answers"?
I say this because at least one of my previous questions has a "Correct Answer" by Bravia55HX923.
When I certainly didn't choose his answer as correct.
Incidentily, he has the "Correct Answer" on loads of posts.
What's all this about? Can members here answer a post, then mark their answer as "Correct Answer"?
I'm more familiar with forums where only the OP is able to choose which answer they feel is correct!!!!
Maybe Sony need to sort this out, or make clear WHO is choosing what is the "Correct Answer".
