ps3 sound bar via ex503 tv

I have a Sony ps3 sound bar and a Sony KDL-40EX503 TV. The soundbar is connected using the digital optical cable that came in the box but I am wondering if there is a way of controling the soundbar via the tv remote instead of having to use the little black remote that came with it.

(I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain in my reply, cause my English is not that good...)

If a soundsystem is connected by a digital optical cable, it's not possible to control te volume by the remotecontrol of the TV.

This is because the volume of the signal is fixed (embedded) in the digital signal.

If you want to conrol the volume with the TV-remotecontrol you have to connect the system with an analogue cable (if possible), then you have to set the analogue output of your TV to variable-mode (only possible if the TV support this kind of settings).
