Hey,
I recently bought a Sony KDL-40R480B, and it's working fine. One problem that I have discovered is concerning the reading of harddrives.
I have been using a harddrive with the format NTFS, for playing some movies, and that has been working fine. The problem now is that I don't use windows anymore, so I bought a new harddrive that I'm going to use only for my Macbook. The harddrive is 2TB.
First I tried the format OSX Extended (HFS+), this worked well for the harddrive but the TV can't read that format. Then I decided to check on Sony's website what formats are supported for my TV via USB reading. This is the answer I found: SÍ (visor de USB compatible con sistemas de archivos FAT16, FAT32, exFAT y NTFS). According to: http://www.sony.es/electronics/telev...specifications
I then had to choose between FAT32 and exFAT, and since FAT32 only support files smaller than 4GB, I chose exFAT. Now it's formatted and ready, but the TV refuse to read my harddrive.
What might be wrong? What can I do? I don't want to have to format it to FAT32 because I think it's worthless and I need files bigger than 4GB on my harddrive.
Thanks!
Hi there
Funny thing is that the manual for this tv states only FAT16/32 and NTFS, but specs show exFAT support. Can only assume one or the other is wrong possibly been updated later on with a FW update. I would probably ensure that you have removed all partitions and refortmat again.
Have a look at this to see if it helps:
