New TV and Sky + any ideas?

'I have just bought a Sony TV KDL 32EX723 I have connected it via the HDMI and it won't find any channels I am not very technically minded but it is not the sky as we have connected out old TV and it works perfectly so have I connected something wrongly or does it need another lead any ideas please?

is the tv connected to an aerial if it is and no channels are found then either the fault lies with either the tv,cable or aerial if you find tv channels then tv is ok scan for channels as per manual connect hdmi lead to top hdmi connection marked ARC using tv remote press input top left on remote then press round centre button you should see sky provided every thing is connected and turned on
