Media remote android smartphone app for KDL-37EX503?

Hi,

I bought a Sony Bravia KDL-37EX503 TV in may last year, and was wondering if the Media Remote android smartphone app. was compatible with the model?

I tried to 'register' the TV with it last night, after I had made sure both it and my mobile phone were on my wi-fi network, but the app. device search could not locate the TV.

I found an internet url to the Australian Sony website where a similar issue had been raised via it's own community. It listed all compatable TV's, and the 37" model was not amongst them. Can I assume from this that the same applies in the UK, or do UK models differ? If the 37" model is not currently able to benefit from the app. facility, are there plans to upgrade the TV firmware in order to allow the use of the app. in the near future?

Many thanks.

Can this also be done in my iPhone? I have seen a video about it, but it needs your device to be jailbroken. Any advice?

This is a limitation of the TV rather than the mobile device I'm afraid. That said there are several 3rd party applications which give some functionality - maybe checkout Zeebox on the iPhone which uses DLNA to change channels..

Thanks

Understood. I don't have an i-Phone however, I use a Sony Ericsson Experia Arc smartphone. Accordingly, is there an alternative/equivalent android app. for 'zeebox' instead? Ideally, I would rather use an app. which was able to utilise the TV as a browser however - again, if there is something on the android market that would facilitate such operation that would be great - or will the TV simply not support that either?

Thanks again.

The TV itself doesn't have a browser, so you wouldn't be able to able to browse websites on it like that - however its far from an ideal experienece anyway as navigating websites without touchscreen or a mouse is pretty tough.

Pretty sure Zeebox have an Android version round the corner - maybe ask them on twitter when its due, but my guess would be its imminent..

Thanks

Apologies catmambo, I didn't phrase that properly - what I meant was, that I would like to use the Bravia to view the browser displayed and accessed via my smartphone (and then control the interface using a media remote type app.). I already use the HDMI connection with my smartphone to view photo's and videos from my smartphone, and the ability to view internet content on the Bravia would be very useful.
