Hi,
I own a Bravia KDL-46EX711 since this weekend. I'm trying to connect this TV using DLNA to
my Vaio laptop. The laptop is running Vaio Media Plus.
When I update the server list on the Bravia, it doesn't find any media servers.
The network connection is fine on the Bravia, as I can stream video from i.e. YouTube.
Both the Vaio and Bravia are connected to the same router, so they are part of the same network.
Any ideas?
Have you tried using a different DLNA transcoder like Mezzmo ?
thanks
I tried both Vaio Media Plus and Windows Media Player 12.
Haven't tried Mezzmo. Will try this evening.
Mezzmo seems to be working well for other users also

Do feedback if it works.
Thanks
Hi,
Installed Mezzmo this evening, but this also does not work.
When I let the Bravia search for servers, it doesn't find any.
Also tried using an old WinXP PC running Windows Media Player 11, but this also does not work.
(On the Vaio WMP 12 is installed)
I tried this last option, as according to Sony support they only support WMP11 for DLNA streaming.
Blah Blah Blah... on the Sony site itself they mention Vaoi Media Plus.
I just love good support 😉
Getting a bit frustrated.
Have you tried temporarily turning your firewall off and checking that UPnP is enabled on your router. If 3 separate bits of software aren't working, then I think the problem lies somewhere else...
thanks
uPnp was indeed not enabled in my router.
Enabled it yesterday and then my Vaio was listed in the serverlist on my TV.
Unfortately I could not connect to the server.
When I looked at the server details on de Bravia, it said it was disconnected.
Today I have reset my router, but still I couldn't connect to the Vaio.
I then removed the Vaio in the serverlist on the TV and tried to update the server list again.
But now the Bravia doesn't find any servers anymore.
This is really giving me a headache. One of the reasons I bought this TV was its DLNA capabilities.
Can't figure out what is wrong.
Hmm - is there a firmware update for your router? Try maybe also installing mezzmo or twonky also.
Thanks
Yep. Checked the router firmware also. It's running the latest release (Lynksys BEFSR41).
Tried Mezzmo also. No change..
Are you running the latest firmware on the BRAVIA? Best to checkout the tab at the top of the page and download it manually onto USB thumb drive and update it manually just to make sure? Maybe try it via another PC or with a friends PC to see if you can get that to work. The issue is that there are so many unique variables, its very hard to know how your particular setup is arranged and thus what the blocks might be.
You have TV which supports it and software which supports it, but for some reason your network isn't allowing the two to connect up. Could always try another router, if your ISP shipped you a free one to use, maybe give that a go as well?
thanks
