My experience If this helps any one out there............ We have 2 Sony TV's one about 6-7 years old and the newer one about 2-3 years old. Gave up a couple of years ago with the APP's as too unreliable and slow!. Got Amazon Fire stick for one and the a Roku Stick for the second. The Amazon fire stick is showing it's age now but I do like as with the right accessories you can connect via Ethernet! Usb media and keyboard! Where as the Roku is Wi-Fi only. My Wi-Fi has improved and works very well with the Roku in current TV location. As the Roku is faster that the Amazon fire stick I current prefer it, but a newer generation firestick may resolve that! I do find the Amazon Firestick user interface a bit cluttered!. Anyhow both are cheap as chips and a worthwhile investment for sake of ones sanity! Oh of course you need a free HDMI port on the back of your TV to use!
