Xperia Arc 4.1.B Update problem

Hi guys,  i just bought a sony xperia arc after reading the reviews online and how much it has improved after the new update. However as soon as i set up the phone and started the update process via SONY PC COMPANION .. it showed me an update is avaliable , after going through (Preparing computer for the software update ) the bar reaches at the end and then a message appears (Unable to install or start phone software update components ) ..  pls help what is this and how can i update my phone ..

if the SI numbers is not on the list, most likely your phone it's locked to a network, if so then you have to contact them to find out when and/or if they are going to release the update

Hi .. Thanks for the reply .. well my phone is on the list .. after trying couple of times the message changes (sometimes the server has no reponse) and sometimes it just fails to update the components of the software update :$ and doesn't move beyong the PREPARE TAB

Hi the phone is unlocked and i payed the full amount i mean its not with a contract or anything.,.. plus i mentioned above the SI number is on the list as well .. but what i dont understand is : If the PC companion is showing i have an update of 4.1.B .. while my version is 4.0...... so why cant i see the same update from my phone in ABOUT PHONE under settings ?? They should be sync right , if u know what i mean and then why cant i update it ?

Dear customer there is a software component called Java that if it's not fully up to date it generates that error in the update process:

So please follow this steps:

1. Close Pc companion

2. Install Java from: http://www.java.com

3. start Pc companion again and try to do the software unlock process once more.

If it fails even after running this, then try the standalone update service module:

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/

As it turned out ... i did get an update via the software you recommended, after installing JAVA . But im a bit dissapointed .. actually alot .. after the update.. it turned out i got an update of 4.0.4 ... which is ICS i understand, right ?

When i first hooked up my ARC and installed the PC companion, it showed me an update of 4.1.B , which is JELLY BEAN and i was crazy excited .. and really really was satisfied with my purchase, now when i'm connecting ARC again and checking the update , the 4.1.B is GONE ???? and it says this is the latest version , which isnt fair if you know what i mean

If you can help me make sense of it all , or really guide me towards getting the Jelly BEAN update, it would really make my day .. Nonetheless, THANK YOU THANK YOU ! for your help !

Hey Francis .. i just checked my software build no and its 4.1.B :smileyblush: ... so i guess that answers my question .. and Thank You once again for renewing the xperience .. IM LOVIN IT !

4.1.B refers to Sony version, not android so you don't have JB.
