Good Morning
Appologies if this has been asked on another thread, I have not been able to find the answer.
I am trying to update my Xperia S to Android 4.0 as notified via my phone. I'm using the PC Companion as suggested at sonyericsson.com/update but getting stuck. When i get to the section when the laptop tries to communicate with the phone it instructs me to "prepare the phone for update" by switching it off, removing the USB cable and when reconnecting the USB to the computer and phone, hold down the volume down button on my phone.
At this point NOTHING HAPPENS?!?!?! Is anyone else having this issue? is there a way round this? Does anyone know if you hold the volume button for 1 second or 10secs or till it does something? i've tried all combinations
I'd be much grateful for some help on this matter.
Thanks in advance
Andy

If the above information does not help, I suggest downloading and installing the Update Service software. I have supplied a link below that will help you achieve this task,
turn off your firewall and antivirus, also does the notification LED turn green when you first press and hold the volume down (keep holding it) > then connect the USB cable while you still hold the button
