When transferring music files to my phone, particularly Greatest Hits albums, it splits the album into parts, presumably along the lines of the original albums the tracks were on.

Is there a way of preventing this from happening so the full album can be played in it's correct sequence?

The music player will only do this if the songs have ID3 tags that don't match each other.

As long as the songs have 'correct' ID3 tags they should be displayed as from the same album.

You can edit the ID3 tags in e.g. Winamp or maybe directly in the phone's music player application (depending on the phone's software version).
