Importing contacts to google account

Ive been trying for a long time but I cant figure out how to transfer all my current contacts that i have on my phone onto my Gmail account.  Is it possible?

I don't have x8 but would like to write something here

see if you have the option to send contacts

go to contacts app > press menu button > select send contacts > mark all > send it to email > your gmail ID > send >

Now go to gmail id and open that email and select import to google contacts

Other way

Backup all contacts

Contacts app > menu button > backup contacts > memory card > done

Now restore contacts and select gmail contacts

contact apps > menu button > import contacts > memory card > select the gmail account > select the vcf file and done
