Deliberate turning On and off while on standby

My only problem with  my Sony Xperia S is when it is on standby and on locked  mode, it keeps on turning on deliberately. Sometimes, it does not turn off anymore which is quite disturbing since it consumes my battery fast. And I can feel the heat coming from the unit. I would want to think that this has nothing to do with the phone but with the applications I installed. To check if it is so, I tried resetting the phone to default and yet the problem still exists. Please help me out with this because this is the first time so far Sony has disappointed me. I have used the unit for only a couple of weeks and now I'm experiencing irregularities in it's performance. I don't want to feel regrets choosing this unit so please pls pls....I've been using Sony Ericsson/Sony smartphone but never have I any problem with my previous phones.

Backup everything as it will erase all data on phone (sms, contacts,apps)

Update/Repair your phone via PCC or SUS

PCC (PC COMPANION) – Repair your software with this .First do the setup without connecting your mobile to pc.(only connect when you are asked to).

Do it as follow >> PCC > SUPPORT ZONE> SOFTWARE UPDATE> REPAIR SOFTWARE (written with blue)

I almost tried that but had a second thought since I still have to reset everything once again for the third time. Thanks anyway. I'll keep you posted for any progress.
