Can I update while using phone as a modem (via PC Companion)

I've checked the option for updating while using phone as a modem, but PC Companion didn't detect my phone while it is tethered. Does that mean Arc S doesn't support this feature?

P.S My Arc S is ICS 4.0.3 upgraded and now trying to install 4.0.4 update.

actually no, how could tethering component be upgraded if it is used, so if you must upgrade your device, it is recommended to have another stable internet connection..
