Xperia L earpiece and rear speaker malfunction

So i'm using Xperia phones since couple of years and i've would like to share a strange issue this Xperia L is having. Some of you might have faced the same issue. You receive the call but you wont hear anything from the other side. But you can hear the other side when you switch on the speaker. When you try to play music via walkman, you'll not hear anything from the rear speaker even though you pump up the volume. Temporary fix for this issue was, you plug in the earphones, play the music, stop the music, remove the earphones and everything will be back to normal including the earpiece. But this doesn't work all the time.

Yesterday i found out that there's some strange connection (loose connection?!) between walkman app and headset jack regarding this issue. I've been using MDR-BX100 earphones since the stock one's sound quality isn't good. Everything was working fine untill recently i started to face this issue. When you unplug the earphone / headset from the device, the device still thinks the earphones / headset is plugged in. The device goes into "headset / earphone mode". Hence the rear speaker wont work when you play the music and the earpiece doesn't work when you receive a call. To verify this, i went into the radio app. The radio app started to play even though the headset / earphone is not connected. Notice that when you go to radio app, you should get a pop up notification to connect a headset as it doubles as an antena.

So i'm not sure whether the issue is with the walkman app, headset jack or with the OS or with the phone itself. Until you find the permanent fix for this solution, you need to keep working with that temporary fix solution of plugging in the headset and unplugging it until both earpiece and rear speaker works.

I found the solution for this issue.

Just go to settings > Apps > All > Smart Connect. Clear Cache and Clear Data.

Now go to Smart Connect app and trigger an event as soon as you connect your earphone / headset. For example, switch on "Music at home".
