I have the same problem and it's really annoying!! I currently have a picture of edison cavani on my widget album thing...why!! I only read sky sport news and now I have a gazillion picture of the people I read about! This is a really bad fault design, why us as a customer should we have to download an app to stop this! SORT IT OUT SONY!!!!

Same issue. It is nearly impossible to use galleries as you cannot find real photos in a pile of cached images.

Why there's no Sony response about this?

I found a fix for this issue it worked for me

Copy all the pictures to sd card and unmont the card

go to album and delete all the images thats are system files reboot the mobile in safe mode and to normal

mount the sd card back and start using the mobile .

the problem comes when you install VLC player in the mobile avoid using it and use a differnt player .

Note : onces the phone boots up wait for two mins and then use the phone . never attempt to use the mobile as sson as its On

And thumnails eating the memeory can be fixed by not using the Google Photo appliaction , Install Clean master and do a advance junk scan , You will find thumbnails folder delete thoes and never attemp to use Google photos application so that the thumnails will not eat up your Internal memeory . always use album to open images and movies appliaction for videos .

use to sony play to back up all the images insted of using goggle photos appliaction .

Note : You can unmont the card while doing a advance junck scan .

.nomedia is the workaround yes, but.. would be this work for subfolders too? Not, already tried.. So I have to add such emty file to every folder any application creates to avoid displaying content in album app? THAT'S NONSECE. Please Sony, make an oportunity to set which folders are searched for any images and which are not.

EDIT: well, maybe I was wrong and the .nomedia file works for subfolders too, after deleting album application data and restart of the phone it seems to be working well. OK, but suggested settings would be very handy.

Hi,

In the new version (6.3.A.0.12) released few days ago, it was mentioned that this bug is fixed. Did anyone of you managed to figure out how to do that?

I've installed the update, but I dont know how to use it Slightly_frowning_Face

HI amine_hirri,

my ALBUM version is 6.3.A.0.12 using a Xperia Z LTE with 4.4.4 android version and build no: 10.5.1.A.0.283. and to answer your question, NO, it didn't solve the issue.

i'm still seeing tons of cached images.

Hi,

I have the same issue, everytime I import a video on to my Z1 via MediaGo, all album artwork then shows itself in my album, I have to manually go through to delete them.

Have Sony actually fixed this issue?

I tried Sony's recommended method of creating .nomedia files. That messed my system up completely. Now the album shows ONLY nonsense images from various apps, neither walkman nor ES File Explorer can find any music, and so on... Does anyone have an idee how I can at least restore the system?

I deleted all the .nomedia-files; in fact I made file explorer deep search for .nomedia files and deleted all it could find. Didn't help, mediascanner cannot even find the standard picture files in DCIM on SD. This is really frustrating...

If anyone has a clue, thanks a lot.

Many File Managers such as excellent Total Commander do NOT allow creating a file.

Neither can a file with name ".nomedia", without extension, be created in a web page for later download.

SOLUTION: All File Managers allow creating a FOLDER named ".nomedia".

PROCEDURE: If you have all your photos (and photo subfolders) inside a folder named "Photos", create inside it a further subfolder named ".nomedia".

These photos will NOT show when browsing photos from the Camera.
