VPL-W400QM projector. S-video in doesn't work.

Hi, I've just got the above projector second hand and everything seems to work fine: i get the on-screen menu, the sound is ok, but when connected to a dvd player through the S-VIDEO input, there's no picture. The projector acknowledges the fact that the s-video lead has being plugged in, but, even though you can hear the film, no image comes out.

I've tested it with two different leads and with a Samsung dvd player and a Matsui portable dvd player, ( not the best in the market...).

If it was the lamp that needed to be replaced it wouldn't be possible to see the menu on the screen, would it?. Just to make sure.

Any tips?.

Thank you.

Hi,

its been a while since i used a video player but from memory you need to change a setting on the player, find the one that says RGB/ S-VIDEO/ and VIDEO.

its probably currently on RGB change that to S-VIDEO and you should be ok.

Hi, thanks for the answer.

I've tried all of the different settings with no result. Perhaps is the dvd player i'm using to connect to the projector. Or the leads...

Could it be possible that there are two types of lamps inside the projector, i.e. one for the menu and settings and one for the actual picture, which in this case it'd happen to be completely used up?.

Anyway, thanks again for your advice.

Hi,

you will find that theres only one lamp in your projector and replacements are not cheap, net prices come in at around £350+VAT !, If you cannot get the S-video lead to work get a component lead (RGB) and try that, memory a bit foggy on this but i think you will need one for sound as well.
