SVR-HDT500 Sync & Picture jumping

I just bought an SVR-HDT500 PVR and at first it was great.  I'ts connected to a new Bravia with no other devices connected and via an HDMI cable supplied with it.  Now when you watch HD channels through the box the sound is intermittently out of sync with the video and the picture jumps constantly, it only hhappens when you watch HD at 1080p which the TV is capable of.  If you watch HD channels through the TV HD tuner (now in 1080i) its fine but the picture quality is not as good as through the PVR or at least it wasn't when I first got it, now you can't watch the 1080p HD throught the PVR because it jumps too much.  It's not a signal problem because we have excellent reception so is it a fault with the PVR or should I try a better quality HDMI lead?

Hi,

just to be clear, i know very little on pvr recorders so will ask this, have you got it set to output at 1080p?, if so there should be a way to set it on Auto,

we all know that 1080p broadcasts are not possible at present its too expensive so everything is broadcast at 1080i.

it will not be reception or the HDMI lead so i believe the answer lies in how the pvr is set.

Thanks a lot

I think it's set to auto on the PVR so I will try setting it to 1080i and give it a go.

I still don't understand though why it was perfect for a couple of days then suddenly went out of sync and jumpy, shame realy because the picture in 1080p was brilliant.

I'll post an update when i've set it

Cheers

Hi,

you can try setting 1080i to see if it helps, but my point was to set it to Auto if its not already on it.

otherwise anything you play in 1080p will only output to 1080i,

good luck.

The PVR was set to auto so I changed it to 1080i but no different I'm afraid, still jumpy and flashes brighter occaisionally.  I think the box is faulty because we watched something I recorded and twice while playing it went completely black and the only way I could restart the recording was to stop it and then restart from where we left off, not good.

Thanks again for your help
