I have just brought an STR-DH810 AV receiver has any body got any advice on what speakers i can connect to it to make a 7.1 system

HI I am sorry to advise Sony does not currently offer a 7.1 speakers, you will in this case have to look at an alternative brand for these.

You do not need to have a "7.1 package" to get 7.1 sound. Get a Sony 5.1 package (or rather a 5 package and a subwoofer) and add 2 more Sony speakers. Since the last 2 will not be front L&R that carry hi power, any good medium sized Sony speaker pair will do. DH810 has DCAC auto calibration that will take care of balancing the system.
