The receivers standby modes are all switched off.
The TV's HDMI sync features are switched off as I don't want the receiver auto switching on every time I watch TV. Firmware is up to date on both units.
The issue I'm having is, when the TV is turned on from standby the receiver makes a loud clunk noise. This also happens when turning the receiver on/off.
Can anyone tell me if I have a faulty unit? Or if there's a way to stop this?
Solved! Go to Solution.
On the first issue, disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV, and then switch it on. This will tell you if the bang is triggered by the cable connection or by what happens on the mains when the TV is switched on.
On the second issue, take a video of the AV while making it make the bang, and post it here. We will understand why the picture is static 😛
Disconnect it? Turn it off and on?
The HDMI cable I'm using is 1.5 meters long it wasn't expensive.
Thank you for your reply.
I will give this a try, thank you for your reply.
Hi, so I tried turning it off and on, it's still the same. I've deleted connected devices from the TV and then reinstalled them. Still the same noise.
I don't understand why turning on the TV causes the receiver to klunk
Yes I've tried this,
Thank for your reply
@mpezzer I guess that might happened if the receiver or the TV experienced sudden power surge or something, try another AC outlet for example. If not, I believe you need to contact Sony to check with their technical support: https://services.sony.co.uk/supportmvc/en/contact/
Do your gear get its Power from the same wall socket ?
