I've got the above surround sound system, and trying to get sound from other things isn't gonna work 'cos it has no digital optical.
Rather than buying a whole new system, cos I'm tight and I like my current speakers, can I just change the DVD unit to another sony model that does have a digital audio? Will all my speakers still connect the same way? Even better, can anyone tell me which model could be used as a straight swap?
Much thanks!
bit early in the morning but gag on that below.
You my friend, are a legend!
That's quite alot of technical information for this time of morning. haha.
Sorry, my bad. Av receiver and active sub..that's what I meant! haha.
From what I can gather, everything should be ok. As long as I'm not going to silly loud volumes. The speakers I have are labelled "3 ohms" but going by the math on that site it should be ok even though the STRDH520 has no switch....yes? Haha, I'm still so unsure..it'll be ok!
Thankyou very much, really appreciated your help! 😃

Or rather than take the risk running the speakers with a 8 ohm system, I could get a Yamaha RXV367 system instead, which is designed for 4 ohm? This would be my better option, am I right?
(Please say I'm right, my head is mashed with all this, hahah)
Hi,
yes you will get away with that no problem.
just make sure you check the impedance of the speakers you have BEFORE you choose the amp!

So just to confirm, my speakers are 3 ohm, so the Yamaha I mentioned above is my best option?
Excellent. Now I must find a sub which wont break my wallet. (and one the wife likes the look of haha)
Considering the Tannoy SFX Sub on the richersounds website. What's your opinion on this one? Or do you know of any other brands/models for a similar price?
