Hi, i have just bought a blu-ray BDP-S480. When i try to play a blu-ray disc the screen only shows the middle of the picture in a square in the centre of the screen the rest of the screen is black. I am able to get the main menu on disc but my options are at the bottom of the screen. I am then able to guess where the start film option is. I can press enter to start the film and the sound is ok but i do not get afull screen or picture. Just a small square in the centre of the screen showing just the middle portion of the picture.
Can anyone help please?

Hi again,
that rules out any switching errors with the amp, the thing i still dont get is this is the second blu ray player you have had thats done this.
this is deffo something in the set up of the player, and as i have said i've gone through mine and cannot see or replicate your problem, (yet!) try a factory re set and start going through everything again, its there somewhere.
H again,
Im gonna try a factory reset later. If that fails which i think it will because i did a factory reset on the last player, im gonna have to try and find a sony dealer patient enough for me to demonstrate. I bought the unit from Tesco and they dont really know anything. They ended up giving me the BDP-S480 for the BDP-S370
I will keep you posted.
Many thanks

I hope all is well.
I have gone into screen settings and it is set up as follows:
3D output setting - auto
TV screen size setting for 3D - 46"/117cm
screen format - original
DVD aspect ratio - letter box
cinema conversion mode - auto
output video format - TV connection method: hdmi
output video resolution: original resolution
BD/DVD-ROM 1080/24p output - auto
YCbCr/RGB(hdmi) - auto
hdmi deep colour output - auto
pause mode - auto
Cheers
Hi,
it is clear now that your BD is fine 100% (i believe) because:
1- the screen setting mentioned above are the out of box setting
2- the BD play fine with PS3 and i think it will be fine too with any Sony TV
3- You already tried 2 BD models and both have the same
Now by little search on google i found a useful post from another customer have exactly the same problem with Samsung TV and he got positive email response from Samsung about how to rectify that issue by change the TV setting from SHOP mode to HOME mode
Please go through the steps in the shown link and kindly let me know the results

Wish for you Good Luck
Hi again,
yes those settings are the same as mine now with exception to screen size, looks like just a couple off the standard factory settings but checked against mine this morning and their fine.
since you say another player and a PS3 was fine on your tv that rules that out too.
if your still having this problem then that just leaves the HDMI cable, but i cannot imagine it to be that but perhaps you could humour me and try it with another one, in any event for 3D to work you need a high speed 1.4 3D cable.
